Students First Account

The Students First program is a program developed by FirstBank staff and designed to provide instructional and practical tools on the importance of saving to school-age children. The goal of the program is to share principles and concepts of saving and basic banking with all Virgin Islands students, as well as to give students an opportunity to have their own savings account.

Each student will have the opportunity to open a Students First Account in their own name with parental consent at any FirstBank branch. Account opening packages will also be handed out to each student during classroom presentations. Once the appropriate forms/consents have been submitted for each child, a student account can be opened as follows:

  • Students, along with a parent/guardian, may visit any FirstBank branch to open the account during regular business hours.
  • Minimum deposit to open is $5.00. There are no fees or service charges as long as the child is under the age of 18.
  • Subsequent deposits can be made at the bank during regular branch and drive-thru hours.
  • Each student account holder will receive a FirstBank savings booklet to allow students to keep their own records of the amount they have saved. This will encourage the improvement of math skills and the development of good financial recordkeeping and savings habits.
  • Once you have opened a Students First Account, you automatically become a Kids Club member and will get a membership card in the mail.
