If you own a vehicle, insurance is not an option - it's a legal necessity. If you are involved in an accident, or your vehicle is stolen, owning the right kind of auto insurance will help ease a difficult situation. At First Insurance our agents are trained to explain the various coverage options and find the ones best suited to your needs. Some options include property, liability and medical coverage.
When purchasing auto insurance you will be asked to provide a copy of the vehicle registration (in your name or signed over to you) and your drivers license among other things.
Individual Automobile Insurance:
Individual automobile insurance protects you (the insured) against financial loss if you have an accident or if your vehicle is stolen.
- Property: Coverage is used to pay for damages to property of others when an insured is held legally liable. Losses may include damage to a third party's vehicle or a building.
- Collision: Pays for direct and accidental loss due to upset (rollover) or collision of the vehicle with another object.
- Comprehensive: Provides coverage for any direct and accidental damage to the vehicle other than collision. Losses include theft and vandalism.
Rental Reimbursement:
Rental reimbursement provides coverage that reimburses the insured for rental fees incurred during the time the insured vehicle was under repair due to a covered collision loss. Rental Reimbursement for a vehicle that is stolen is automatically covered under comprehensive coverage.
Liability Insurance:
Liability insurance covers your responsibility to others for injury or property damage and protects the insured from any monetary loss.
- Bodily Injury: Used to pay for the injury of a third party in which the insured is held legally liable.
- Property Damage: Used to pay for damages to property of others when an insured is held legally liable. Losses may include damage to a third party's vehicle or a building.
Uninsured Motorist:
Uninsured motorist coverage pays for the bodily injury and loss of wages the insured would be legally entitled to recover from the operator of an uninsured auto (or hit and run) involving an accident.
Medical:
Medical insurance coverage pays for the reasonable medical expenses incurred by an insured, spouse, family member, or passenger for bodily injury caused by an accident involving any motor vehicle designed for highway use. The insured and spouse are covered as both an occupant of any vehicle or while struck as a pedestrian. Covers the cost for the treatment of injury and rehabilitation.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment:
Pays insured up to $5,000.00 in case of death or dismemberment (individual(s) must be named on application and policy) in addition to medical expenses.
